During Pregnancy
1: Figure out any complications during your mothers pregnancies. Knowing this information can give you an idea of complications you may have during you pregnancy. Remember, it is not absolutely certain that you will have complications if your mom had them, however it is still recommended to know this information.
2: Make extra time for doctor visits. This one is pretty obvious but should not be overseen. Regular doctor visits are an important factor in all pregnancies and twin pregnancies are no exception. Make sure to make appointments every 2-4 weeks.
4: Report anything unusual. If you notice anything out of the ordinary such as cramming or discharge notify your doctor. Keep in mind that mothers of twin pregnancies tend to get cramps earlier in the pregnancy, still this should not stop you from contacting your doctor if anything usual happens. Its better to be safe than sorry.
3: Listen to what your body is telling you. As the pregnancy advances you may experience changes in mood and energy. Make sure to rest when you are feeling tired. Don't overwork or try to finish everything in one day. Try to not stress out. Remember to make time to take care of yourself and dont forget to pamper yourself because you deserve it
5: Have healthy diet. This is not an excuse to eat more than usual!! (unfortunately). Many people think that twin moms should eat twice the normal amount but that is not the case. Here is a list of what you should eat:
-
Fruits and veggies (carrots, broccoli, spinach, beets)
-
Enriched whole grains (breads and cereals)
-
Milk products (for healthy bones)
-
Lean meats (skinless chicken, fish)
-
Water!!
Also try to eat as much organic foods as possible. Avoid processed foods and junk foods (chips, pastries, fried foods, everything that's good). Remember that this is not forever and in the end you'll be glad that you did it!
